25 Days of Gluten-Free Giveaways #9 Pasta Prima

Oh my goodness, talk about AMAZING pasta and you have the new gluten-free raviolis by Pasta Prima. They come in two flavors and are sold in Costco stores nationwide for a great price. We fed guests these for dinner and they said it was so amazing that they couldn’t even tell the difference! These pastas are made with a combination of corn and rice and are certified gluten-free. They are packed in just the right size for a dinner for 2. Here is what we thought of each.

Five Cheese Ravioli- When you think of really good, classic ravioli this is what it is. The cheese was robust and full of flavor while the pasta itself was beautifully cut and very tasty. This pasta could easily be topped with a nice vodka sauce, marinara or bolognese sauce. It also went very nicely when served with a more rich cream sauce. It would also be fantastic with a pesto or simply served with fresh herbs or olives. This is a great “blank canvas” pasta for you to create anything your heart desires.

Butternut Squash Ravioli- We were surprised to find that we really loved the fall flavor of this butternut squash ravioli. It made you immediately feel crisp air as if leaves were falling with it’s smooth butternut squash puree center. This sauce definitely served well with the cream or cheese based sauce. It was lighter than the cheese and made a great vegan alternative. If you wanted to get really brave, you could even turn this into a dessert pasta serving it with a sweet cream cheese drizzle, nutmeg and cinnamon.

For our guests that I mentioned above we combined the two pastas and served them with a lovely cream sauce and a side of pan fried chicken apple sausage. Check out the recipe below then enter to win some all for yourself!

Alfredo Sauce

1/4 c. butter
1 c. heavy cream
2 garlic cloves, crushed
1 1/2 c. Parmesan cheese
2 Tbls. dried parsley or 1/4 c. fresh
Real garlic salt to taste

Fresh ground nutmeg

Melt butter in a saucepan. Add cream and cook about 5 minutes. Add garlic, cheese, parsley and salt and whisk. Serve over hot pasta with (now here is the secret) fresh ground nutmeg and enjoy. Trust me, you will thank me later. Nutmeg and cream sauce are meant to be.
