Chelsea’s Kitchen Restaurant Review and Feature

IMG_9289I must start this restaurant review with the preface that the company was just as amazing as the food! There is nothing quite like gluten-free friends who just get “it”. I am grateful for my amazing GFF Julia (blondie w/yellow necklace) and awesome gfree friends Erica of Celiac and the Beast, Ken of Rock a Healthy Lifestyle, Sarah of Can I Eat Here and Alyssa of Inspired RD. Now on to the review ;) Chelsea’s Kitchen ROCKS! They understand preparation methods for avoiding cross contamination and keeping those of us with celiac disease safe. Also, almost their entire menu is naturally gluten-free which is a great bonus. I LOVE that their signature dishes like the poblano mac n’ cheese always used quinoa noodles. That’s right folks, everyone gets it gluten-free! I greatly appreciate the time and attention the chefs and wait staff give you when dining here. I couldn’t have been more pleased. So let’s start with the food.

Appetizers (pictured above)

Deviled Eggs- These bacon topped deviled eggs were absolutely divine! I really could have eaten a few orders on my own. They are tangy and smoky which I loved.

Chips & Fresh Salsa/Guacamole- House made corn tortilla chips make this dish special. Roasted tomatillo salsa gives you bite without overwhelming your palate.

Chicken Nachitos- These mile high nachos were AMAZING!! Delicious, melty cheese atop house made corn tortilla chips loaded with shredded chicken, fresh salsa, sour cream and guacamole (which I had to avoid bc of my allergy).

Shrimp Ceviche- Oh. My. Yum! This citrus shrimp burst of happiness in your mouth was the perfect app next to bold flavors like the nachitos and deviled eggs. If you love ceviche, you will be in Heaven with this one!

Salads

Brussels Sprouts Salad- This is such an amazing salad and such a unique one at that. It is one of those salads that you talk about for days. Great creativity and flavor. I especially love the shaved cheese on top.

The Del Mar Salad- This is my favorite Chelsea’s salad with all it’s succulence. I LOVE the crab mixed with fresh shrimp and iceberg. The champagne dressing is the icing on the cake with this salad…one fancy salad that meets all expectation from the mouth watering description.

Shredded Kale & Quinoa Salad- This is a hearty salad with filling quinoa and bold kale flavors. A great alternative to a traditional dinner salad.

Main Courses

Crab Cakes- Fun to have something we can’t often have. Lots of meaty crab that left me full.

Surf and Turf Taco Platter- A nice combination of seafood and meat. The meat was SO tender almost buttery like with perfect texture especially for serving in tacos. Fish was nicely flavored and I loved the homemade corn tortillas. They were little and cute but also tasted great!

Chelsea’s Short Ribs- This was my favorite entree! So warm and cozy it was also rich and full of great flavor. Perfect for a cold night.

Baked Mac n’ Cheese- This is my favorite accompaniment to any Chelsea’s entree. It is cheesy and creamy with a little kick from the pablanos. This is worth a dairy belly after. ;)

Dessert

Array of Sorbets- The chocolate, mint chocolate chip, strawberry and pistachio were all fantastic but I have to say that the pistachio was my absolute favorite. I loved the sweet and salty flavor as well as the smoothness of the sorbet.
