Bento Box Lunches feature & GIVEAWAY plus gluten-free feature photos from 3TV Your Life A to Z!!

My next segment with 3TV Your Life A to Z which airs TODAY 8/12 and again on 8/26 from 10-11 am (be on the lookout for it to be added to our media page soon). This time I featured all the wonderful and eco-friendly lunch boxes we have had the opportunity of trying so far. From Japan with love, Go Green Lunchboxes, Planetbox, Easy Lunchboxes and Kids Konserve. In those lunch boxes we featured all kinds of meal ideas which you will see below in the individual reviews but for Phoenix natives, Jewel’s Cupcake Shop provided us with Snickers & Maple Bacon cupcakes to put in our individual cupcake container and gluten-free pizza lunchables that included little cookies and a everything packaged separate like a regular lunchable would be. Pizza sauce in one cup, cheese in another (dairy free available as well), two little pizza crusts with a mini spoon for assembling. It was a fantastic lunch idea!! Jewel’s also provided us with bread which was SO soft and delicious nobody even knew it was gluten-free! On the segment I also featured Celiac and the Beast’s gluten-free awareness apparel for kids and adults and the adorable Gluten Glitch children’s book to read to your little ones and remind them of why they must live this life. It is such a cute book that my son just adores! My sister Katie (bottom pic) got to join me on set which was fun since she may have to begin a gluten-free diet soon and is just getting ready to start school herself.

I must continue by telling you about my bento box mom idol…Keeley McGuire. She is the BEST gluten-free, allergen-friendly bento box mom I have found out there!! Her ideas are fantastic and she has EVERYTHING! From easy but fun ideas in a hurry to holiday themed and more elaborate lunches, she really helps guide you through your gluten-free bento box journey. Her personality and sweet disposition only add to her wonderful site as you see her love for her family and what she does come through in every post. Be sure to check her out!

GoGreen Lunchboxes are SO adorable! In fact, whenever I take this one out, at least two people as where I got it and how much it is. People are drawn to it’s design with the individual compartments and cute carry case in many different designs. The water container and the white board for writing notes to your littles makes this one a complete package. The turn and lock on the top ensures that your food stays fresh. The leakproof seal keeps your food in the compartment you intended it to be in even when traveling and in a backpack. I personally like the little buckle that the lid has so your kiddos don’t lose it while at school when they take it off for lunch. Another great thing about this brand is that you can buy replacement parts ala carte which makes it much easier if only one part needs to be re-ordered. If you are really into reduce and re-use, this company also offers cloth napkins! In these lunches I featured gluten-free crackers and bars, almond butter packet, olives, natural beef jerky, fresh fruit in re-usable cupcake liners and cut out into flower shapes with a From Japan with Love pick. Also featured is a meal that uses gluten-free sugar cones in place sandwich bread. These cones can be filled with fresh fruit for a tasty lunch! Cocoroons completed the meal with a tasty but natural dessert. Be sure to enter the giveaway for a FREE GoGreen Lunchboxes below!! gogreelunchboxlogoIMG_7301IMG_7370IMG_7181

Kids Konserve is a fantastic line that is reminiscent of a brown bag lunch. It is re-usable, eco-friendly and recycled cotton which makes it the perfect bag for school lunches. I personally LOVE the look of this set and think it just looks so cute in little hands as they head off to school. This is another one that comes with a stainless steel canteen (20 oz.) for carrying water in rather than using the traditional plastic ones. This set also comes with a cloth napkin, food kozy sandwich wrap with velcro (which can also be used as a placemat) and two circle 8 oz. stainless steel, leakproof containers for packing lunch items. This adorable pack comes in many designs and is BPA, PVC, phthalate and lead free! To get the complete meal set, be sure to also order the bamboo spork which makes even the utensils eco-friendly. Love it!! In the photo above with my sister, you will also see that they have a fantastic 12 oz. insulated food jar for sending soup, certified gluten-free oatmeal and other items in. A sweat proof icepack makes packing things that need to stay cold easy. This company really offers one of the largest varieties of items for your back-to-school lunch needs. kidskonservelogo2

Planetbox is a VERY popular sustainable lunch box. When people think eco-friendly bento boxes, Planetbox is one of the first that comes to mind. Planetbox lunches make meal packing easy while encouraging healthy eating and portion control. This is the ultimate bento box design lunch box with it’s adorable little compartments and canisters for little items or dips. Even the pickiest eater will be pleased to see that their food won’t touch. The stainless steel design makes it durable but is also dishwasher safe which is great for mom and dad. Different designs of magnets make lunch fun again! My little guys chose the Winter Wonderland (go figure since we live in Arizona ;) and loved the bear snowboarding and all the other fun pictures that came on their magnets. There is even a create-your-own set that you could easily add your child’s food allergies of dietary needs on in marker as I’ve seen some parents do. Below I did fruit and cucumbers cut into flowers, raisins, Glutino chocolate sandwich cookies, cheese round with candy eyes to look like Elmo and gluten-free crackers. Inside the containers, salad and dip could easily be taken on-the-go. This easy carry lunchbox with compartments for an ice pack or notes makes this a great way for your kids to enjoy a delicious lunch from home. Planetbox also comes with a 5-year guarantee and currently has three different lunchbox designs including Launch, Rover and Shuttle.

Easy Lunchboxes by Kelly Lester are definitely the most affordable bento box style, re-usable lunchbox. They are a fantastic design and come with great color options for the lids so that you can change it up day by day. The carry cooler as comes in many colors making it easy for you to find one that fits your child’s personality. My boys quickly opted for the bright orange design and have thoroughly enjoyed it! Some of the features of this brand include easy-open, kid friendly lids, durable dishwasher, microwave and freezer safe PLUS BPA/PVC/Lead/Vinyl free design. These lunchboxes are a #1 bestseller on Amazon! To finally be able to have a re-usable lunchbox that doesn’t break the bank makes living more natural, something that everyone can do. Do keep in mind that the lid isn’t leakproof so it is best carried in the upright cooler. Mini dippers make it easy to send dressings and smaller items with your child. Below you will see that I made a gluten-free sandwich in the shape of a donut and added a few sprinkles to make my little guys smile…it worked! :) I also made a flower out of orange segments and a flower cut our piece of watermelon.

A I mentioned, this month I wanted to focus the television segments I was doing on gluten-free back to school bento box lunches for kids. With school starting and the littles being gone from the house for a few hours a day, I figured that these fun little lunch ideas would put a smile on the kids faces and remind them that they are loved whether they are at home or at school. This segment was featured on the CBS morning show. I was featured with Lucia of Lucy’s Healthy Marketplace in Phoenix. We discussed the monthly gluten-free cooking class I will be teaching at her store. The first class was of course focused on bento box lunches as well as quick and easy back to school dinners. On this segment we featured Go Green Lunchboxes and Kids Konserve, both fantastic, eco-friendly alternatives to a brown sac.

The class at Lucy’s was a great success! The attendees were so excited to learn more about how to put together a gluten-free and/or allergen-friendly bento box lunch PLUS learn more about how to make delicious dinners in a hurry. One of the dinners we made was Taco Casserole, a family favorite.
