I love trying to find new ways of making our Valentines Day meals themed with hearts but still full of flavor. This dish was great because the whole family loves gluten free spaghetti and the sauce is already red which is perfect for a Valentines day dish. I thought instead of putting the meat in the sauce like I normally do, making little heart shaped meatballs would be cute and fun for the kids. I was right, they loved them!
Heart Shaped Gluten Free Meatballs
1 lb. grass fed beef or turkey if you don’t like beef
1/2 c. gluten free breadcrumbs
1/2 onion chopped
1 Tbs each of chopped fresh parsley, oregano and basil (dried is fine as well if you don’t have fresh, just do 1 tsp rather than 1 Tbs)
1/2 tsp Real Salt
1/2 tsp Real Garlic Salt
oil for frying
Using your hands, in a bowl combine everything but oil just until combined. Don’t over mix. Shape into hearts making sure to do them a little dramatic as they swell a little when cooking and look less defined as when they are raw. Heat oil in a frying pan and add the meatballs making sure not to add too many. Cook both sides until browned, about 15 minutes.
