While visiting family in Utah this holiday season we had the great pleasure of doing a review for a lovely little cafe, Eleanor’s Bakeshop in Sandy, Utah. This full service cafe also specializes in custom cakes and special gluten free orders. I love that Eleanor’s Bakeshop is a dedicated gluten free facility. The daily menu features a variety of AMAZING gluten free goodies and savories. Here is a sample daily menu.
Salad: Hot Potato Salad
Muffin: Blueberry and Apple Streusel
Cake Pops: Cinnamon, Double Vanilla, Hawaiian, Key Lime, Cherry Chocolate, Maple, and Dark Chocolate Coconut
Cupcakes: Chocolate Raspberry, Blueberry Almond, and Chocolate Raspberry
Cupcakes (Day Old): Chocolate Mint and Chocolate Peanut Butter
Cookies: Oatmeal Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal Raisin, Oatmeal Peanut Butter, Ginger, Chocolate Crinkle, Snickerdoodles & Sugar Cookie ($1.49)
Sweet Rolls: Cinnamon
Fruit Pockets: Lemon, Strawberry, and Apple
Bread: Sandwich, Honey Oat, Cran-Orange (mini), Cheesy Onion (mini)
Eleanor’s Bakeshop was named after the oldest family member with celiac disease, the grandmother. The dining area is large enough for a big party or multiple small parties and has a mouth watering welcoming smell of fresh baked bread. Eleanor’s Bakeshop is famous for their amazing breads and Arepa’s. Let me just tell you, the roll I had here was the absolute BEST I have ever had…anywhere! It was so similar to a traditional, delicious roll that even our family who doesn’t eat gluten free could tell that it didn’t contain gluten! Here is a little more about the yummy items we tried while visiting Eleanor’s Bakeshop.
Brisket Arepa- THIS WAS THE BEST SANDWICH I HAVE EVER EATEN! Oh my goodness was it good!!! The brisket was tender and so full of flavor, the sauce and topping were the perfect accompaniment to the delicious gluten free arepa. The bread portion was moist and tender as well.
Rolls- I love that this roll can be purchased parbaked so you can take it home and enjoy 1 or 6 whenever you want (oh and we enjoyed many! 🙂 The roll was so full of flavor and reminded me of a traditional wheat roll but with even better flavor and texture. It was soft and easy to tear apart like a gluten filled roll would be but without the gluten…AMAZING!
Blueberry Sour Cream Muffin- SO moist I could hardly believe it. It was sweet and tasty with the perfect addition of sour cream. The frosting was in perfect ratio to the cupcake itself. This cupcake couldn’t have been any better. I have craved it since trying it.
Snickerdoodle, Oatmeal Raisin and Ginger Cookies- Fresh baked, perfectly sweet and chewy, I was impressed with these gluten free cookies. I could hardly believe they were gluten free! The ginger was my favorite with just the right amount of ginger flavor then rolled in sugar and baked, yum!
In addition to offering the BEST gluten free bread and blueberry sour cream cupcakes, Eleanor’s Bakeshop is VERY affordable. With cookies and large rolls just over a dollar and sandwiches around $6 you can’t go wrong! Next time you are in the Salt Lake, Utah area be sure to do yourself a favor and stop by this amazing bakeshop.
