In addition to being an excellent place to dine gluten free, what a beautiful place to eat The Persian Room was. The interior design was rich in both color and texture. I loved the authentic Persian flare throughout the entire restaurant.
Upon arrival we were greeted by the owner, Nausser. He was so incredibly kind and genuine that you couldn’t help but smile when visiting with him. His passion for excellent service and enjoyable Persian food showed throughout the entire duration of the meal. We began our evening with the oh-so delicious, Hummus. Garbanzo beans, tahini sauce, olive oil, garlic and lemon juice made this tasty dip. It was so smooth and creamy and almost reminded me of a peanut butter of sorts with the nutty flavor. It was very good alone and as an accompaniment to vegetables.
Another dip we were served was the Yogurt & Cucumber Dip. It was cool, fresh and full of flavor. It went well with everything we ate throughout the rest of the meal including meat, rice and especially the Gyro.
We also had the Dolmeh, a very delicious rice, onion and spice stuffed grape leaf. These were especially tasty when dipped in the Yogurt and Cucumber Dip. They suited each other very well.
For our entree items were were brought out an absolutely gorgeous platter of the most popular meats served on the menu. Including filet mignon (Barg), Chicken Kebab, Sabzy Polo With Fish (Mahi Mahi), Chicken and Beef Koobideh, and Marinated Shrimp. The presentation couldn’t have been more royal. I felt like a Queen when being served this platter. The Mahi Mahi was absolutely to die for! The seasoning was perfect as was the fish. In fact, I made my cousin give me hers since she isn’t a seafood fan. The shrimp were also delicious and had great grill marks. The seasonings on all the meat was done very well, careful not to be too overpowering. I loved that peppers and charred tomatoes were served along side the meat. I really enjoyed them with the meal.
The Gyros were the other meat we enjoyed. When I say enjoyed, that is an understatement. I haven’t had Gyro in years because most are filled with so many things including wheat flour. I was so beyond grateful to find out that in addition to nearly everything offered in The Persian Room being prepared in house from scratch, the meat too was just the meat listed, natural spices and no iodized salt. Most of the ingredients on the menu get their delicious flavor from fresh pressed onion juice. The owner said that is what makes their food so special. Special it all was. The Gyros were full of flavor and something I will return again and again for!
The rice we were given to enjoy with our protein was the Fluffy Basmati Rice and the Baghala Polo Rice, or the Fluffy Basmati Rice cooked with dill weed and fava beans. Both were very delicious and cooked perfectly. They added a nice starch to this protein rich meal.
Everything we dined on while at The Persian Room was absolutely delicious! The owner assured me that the kitchen is very cautious in allergen preparations including gluten. He let me know that nearly 90% of the menu is gluten free naturally so the risk for cross contamination is much lower in their kitchen, however they are aware of the possibility and take precautions in all preparations. The grill is a gluten free grill as nothing containing gluten is ever cooked on it. I loved that! A Persian market will be opening very soon right next to the restaurant which I think will be great. Availability right on site to purchase many great and authentic products is always nice. I feel so lucky to have found this gem of a restaurant. Next time you are in the area, be sure to stop by for a gluten free meal, you won’t be disappointed.
