Kempke Physical Therapy Feature and Review

I had the lovely opportunity of working with Physical Therapist, Sheri Kempke. A little more about Sheri, she graduated from the University of Minnesota with a BS in physical therapy. She has worked in the field of physical therapy for over 30 years, working in a variety of settings including acute care, home health, extended care, schools, and outpatient clinics. Over the years she has stayed active in the profession through numerous continuing education courses, ranging in topic from pediatrics to geriatrics, stroke rehabilitation to bodywork courses. She is also Neuro-Developmental Treatment certified. Sheri not only uses traditional physical therapy in her treatment but also a variety of wonderful techniques such as Visceral Manipulation, Craniosacral, Lymphatic Drainage, Myofascial Release and Soft Tissue Mobalization. The thing I love about Sheri most is her desire to truly heal her patients. She has a deep care and concern for what they are going through and wants to help in any way she can. Having dealt with celiac disease herself for a number of years, she is familiar with the “aches and pains” that come along with having celiac disease. In fact, she is very knowledgeable about body work that is helpful in relieving many celiac disease related symptoms in individuals.

I have started this business to aid fellow sufferers of gastric disease, arthritis, autoimmune diseases, and those with unresolved chronic joint pain. Relieving pain is a primary concern, once pain is relieved motion activity and normal life activities can be restored. My desire is to aid those who suffer and enable them to return to a more active lifestyle. This website contains many valuable resources that you may use to understand the types of therapy that we offer at Kempke Physical Therapy. Please look thorough our website, and the many treatments that we provide to our patients, in order to help them meet their goals of a healthy and active lifestyle. I feel that education about your condition and lifestyle choices that impact your condition are an important part of your treatment session. Each therapy session is one hour, and includes hands on techniques, a home exercise prescription, and education as needed. The exercises are not extensive, do not require expensive equipment, but are focused to your particular problem. The home program may be modified as needed at each visit. This website also acts as a portal to our patients, so that they may login and view various exercises from the comfort of their own home. Exercises are a very important step in the healing process, which is why we have made this investment to have such a portal to make it easy for patients to access this crucial information. -Sheri Kempke PT

I was having the worst back pain. It had gotten so bad that my sleep was becoming terribly disrupted and each morning I’d wake up groggy and exhausted from tossing and turning trying to find a comfortable sleep position with the back pain. At my first visit with Sheri, we went over my complete medical history so she really knew about me and the pains I was having and had in the past. She asked many questions which made me feel at ease knowing that she wanted to truly know her patients health history before beginning body manipulation. Neck pain was always an issue for me as well. Spending so much time on the computer each evening and daytime when my little ones are napping really started taking a toll on my neck. Another issue that Sheri noticed I had when she had me walk across the clinic was that my feet were extremely turned out (I guessed from all the years of dancing as a kid and teenager) when I walked, causing problems with tightness in my hips and behind. We began that first meeting with addressing the biggest problem, my low back pain that was disrupting my sleep. Using traditional methods along with some amazing, new visceral manipulation methods I wasn’t familiar with, Sheri was able to move and stretch my body like it had never been before, and I teach pilates! She did a lot of specific techniques, that allowed restrictions in my body to be released, restoring my back to its normal functioning abilities. It was absolutely amazing. After just 45 minutes with Sheri I felt like a new woman. I thought leaving, how much taller I was standing, and how much better I felt. The true joy came for me the next morning after a fulfilled nights sleep! Since that first meeting with Sheri to this day, I have not lost a wink of sleep due to low back pain. Just that one session would have made a believer out of me, but we continued for a few more sessions to fix the other issues. My neck has been stronger and more capable of doing what is required of me thanks to her hands-on techniques during our sessions and also because of the wonderful take-home exercises I was not only given but taught how to perform each day. As a patient of Sheri’s you are given full access to her website which allows you to see a picture and a description of the exact exercises prescribed for you. It is amazing! It’s like you get to take home this great medical professional with you to help you even when you aren’t seeing her face to face. I love it!

Finally, my feet were brought back to a correct positioning for walking after stretching and release exercises done with Sheri and on my own from the exercises she prescribed. The great thing is that the exercises are easy and can mostly be preformed in your own bed before getting up to start your day. They feel so nice and give the body such a great stretch that you really don’t have any problem wanting to do them each morning.

I am so grateful for gifted people like Sheri who have abilities to work with people so well. Our country is so heavily medicated that the focus really should be on preventative care and natural treatment as much as possible. Thank you Sheri for facilitating the healing that took place with my body and teaching me how to continue working to improve its functions everyday. I will forever be grateful…If you are in the AZ area and would like to meet with Sheri, please don’t delay.
