Chelsea’s Kitchen Gluten Free Restaurant Review and Feature

Fresh, amazing, and delicious are just a few words to describe Chelsea’s Kitchen and their excellent gluten free menu options. When we first arrived for the feature we were immediately captured by the beautiful landscape in front of the restaurant. It set the tone for the rest of the night. We began with excellence and it continued throughout the evening. The manager, Chris was incredibly helpful and excited to share their passion for food, including gluten free. He let me know that everyone in the restaurant is aware of the great danger that gluten cross contamination can be and they are on their toes about avoiding it at all costs. I felt immediately assured that I was dining in a restaurant that knew what they were doing when it came to preparing and cooking gluten free food. I also knew we were in for an evening of the freshest, most delicious gluten free food when Chris told me that there isn’t a freezer in the kitchen. They receive everything so fresh that they have no need to freeze anything. I absolutely love this concept!

Our waitress, Christine was a delight. She was happy, helpful and on top of everything. She didn’t at all mind our two little boys dining with us. It may have helped that it was their best restaurant outing to date. 🙂 This may have something to do with the great toy, wiki sticks, they give each child upon arrival to enjoy throughout dinner and take home with them when they are done. My son said, “Best toy ever!” while he was playing with them. We loved it! Another way Chelsea’s Kitchen shows that they love kids is by offering their kids-eat-free from 3-6 pm everyday offer. You can’t beat that. As we were seated, I felt right away the romantic and warm ambiance intended, however, with a very modern feel. It was just the kind of environment I enjoy when dining out.

We began our gluten free journey with the french fries that are fried in a dedicated fryer and sprinkled with a house made seasoning that is gluten free. They were excellent! They arrived piping hot and seasoned perfectly with a BBQ flavor that was lightly sweetened with brown sugar. Our two year old, Jax, was especially in heaven with this item.

Next we enjoyed the Del Mar Salad. Fresh greens with bits of crispy jicama, that added great texture and crunch, perfectly cooked shrimp and crab, cool avocado and black olives and a delicious champagne vinaigrette tossed into the salad with a house made french dressing served along side. It was a cool, tasty salad with an excellent balance of rich tastes like the crab and french dressing along with refreshing bites of jicama and crisp iceberg lettuce. I was impressed with the creativity shown in this salad along with the great taste.

For our main appetizer we were presented the Nachitos (minus the chicken as they use the rotisserie chicken with is fried in the non-dedicated fryer) that featured house made corn chips done in a dedicated gluten free fryer, topped with loads of rich, delicious white cheese. Not one chip was left out of the cheese party, which is just how it should be when enjoying nachos. Sliced jalapenos added the spice that I always crave. Fresh, made-in-house salsa and guacamole added that cool yet spicy touch that took these nachos to another level.

We also enjoyed the following menu items while dining at Chelsea’s Kitchen.

Baked Macaroni with Poblano and Bacon- This dish was full of real cheddar and Gruyere cheeses baked perfectly with the brown rice noodles. There was just the right amount of heat brought to the dish by the poblano and crisp texture of the flavorful bacon. This was our favorite dish of the evening. It was one of the best things I have ever eaten. Our little man even enjoyed it! My husband Josh is very picky about his pasta and he said he couldn’t even tell it was gluten free. That is huge for him! This was a fun kid, classic made grown up with some more mature flavors like the poblano and bacon. Absolutely amazing dish.

Brussels Sprout Salad- With shaved nutty manchego cheese, sweet dried cranberries and blueberries, crunchy almonds and apple wood smoked bacon topped with a honey mustard vinaigrette, this salad was a hit! I loved that the Chef was so creative in putting together a salad like this. I have never seen it anywhere else and probably never will. It will be a Chelsea’s Kitchen dish I will have to return for. Yum!

Hard wood grilled salmon- This tender, delicious fish was cooked to absolute perfection! Served with a champagne vinaigrette, fingerling potatoes cooked al dente and crisp flash fried baby bok choy this entree was heaven. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. Another Chelsea’s Kitchen dish that soars above the competition.

Chelsea’s Grilled Chicken Tacos- This gluten free marinated chicken was so fork tender yet naturally delicious as Chelsea’s Kitchen only uses premium and organic meats of the highest quality. It absolutely showed in the delectable taste of this marinated chicken. It was served with made to order gluten free corn tortillas pressed in a dedicated tortilla press, black beans, rice, house made salsa and guacamole. Another hit! The flavors of each component of the taco plate married perfectly together to create the ultimate taco experience.

We ended our evening with a freshly made-in-house strawberry gelato. Chelsea’s Kitchen owners also own a gelato shop just up the road so they make and serve fresh gelato every day. This was the most delicious gelato I have ever eaten. The strawberry flavor came through perfectly and finished of the meal on such a fresh, lightly sweet note.

Chelsea’s Kitchen…absolute perfection. I will be recommending this restaurant to everyone I know! Be sure to enjoy it next time you are in Arizona. Big thanks to Manager Chris, Chef Tim and our sweet waitress, Christina. We had an absolutely amazing gluten free dining experience with you at Chelsea’s Kitchen.
